XChat allows users to “chat with anyone on X in a private, focused space built for conversation,” per the app’s description. XChat doesn’t include ads or tracking, and messaging is end-to-end encrypted. A preview of the app first showed features like the ability to block screenshots, send disappearing messages, hold group chats, and make video calls. The app launch comes as X shuts down its Communities feature in favor of Groupchat Links this week. The XChat app has been in testing since last year. XChat can be downloaded from the App Store now.
