Should you buy the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W?
Asus’ ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W is a stunning entry into the competitive OLED monitor market. It stands out from the competition with a long list of features that are either unique to the PG27AQWP-W or work better than on competitive monitors. These features include: a tandem OLED display, 540Hz/1440p and 720Hz/720p modes, Aura Sync RGB-LED lighting, a tripod mount, and an ultra-glossy TrueBlack panel finish, among other things. It might seem hard to justify paying $1,100 for a 1440p monitor, and to be clear, most people will be just as happy with a 4K/240Hz QD-OLED purchased at a lower price.
HDMI 2.1 is only important if you want to connect a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X game console at 4K resolution and play titles with 120Hz support. These consoles only support HDMI output, so an HDMI connection is your only option. Most desktop PCs and laptops also have a DisplayPort output. This is preferable to HDMI 2.1 because it supports higher resolutions and refresh rates, so HDMI 2.1 is not necessary to connect a PC.
