Sandisk's WD_Black lineup of SSDs is indeed built for PC gaming, whether you're rocking a laptop or a desktop rig. A combination of PCIe 4.0 and Sandisk's 3D TLC NAND provides superb performance, with the 4TB model reaching 7,000MB/s read and 6,700 MB/s write speeds. Performance only improves on the 1TB and 2TB models, hitting 7,250MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write speeds. Endurance is also in line with top storage options, delivering a 600TBW rating for each terabyte of storage. For the 4TB model, that means you should realistically be able to write 2,400TB to the drive before a risk of failure.

I highly doubt that the Steam Machine's leaked CPU benchmark scores are anything to be concerned about. The performance level could be felt in some edge cases where games are CPU-bound, but otherwise I expect the superior GPU to pull a ton of weight. This is especially true considering the Steam Machine is intended to be a living room device running on common TV resolutions and frame rates.
