This is a bummer. No, there is no post-credits sequel tease at the end of Mortal Kombat 2. That’s not a big surprise; the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie didn’t have one either. But for a franchise like MK, it sure feels like the filmmakers should be teasing something, like the return of Goro or Cole Young’s headless corpse rising from the acid pools in which his body was dumped. If Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie can tee up their next heroes, why not Mortal Kombat?

As the Mortal Kombat tournament kicks off, Shao Kahn assembles a team that includes himself, his adopted daughter Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), her bodyguard Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Kitana's zombified mother (Ana Thu Nguyen), and a zombified Kung Lao (Max Huang). Surely, there was room in the group for a Shokan, even if Goro himself wasn't available. And to be fair, he definitely wasn't because of what happened in Mortal Kombat (2021).
