In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Ed Wu was asked about the possibility of a Pokemon GO sequel. Wu previously served as the senior vice president of Pokemon GO at Niantic, and is now the president of games at Scopely. The developer quickly shut down the possibility, noting that it would be "pretty clearly not the correct thing to do." There are many obvious hazards that could come with making a sequel, including the fact that it could split up the game's established base of players. Pokemon GO Developer Comments on Potential SequelA few years ago, Pokemon GO surpassed Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as the game with the most Pokemon available to catch. Right now, Pokemon GO has 950 Pokemon that can be obtained, far exceeding Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's record of 807.
