So, where were Sonic games ten years ago, and what was it that prompted Sega to decide it might not bother with the blue blur anymore? My guess is it was the culmination of what had come during the decade before that. Sonic '06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and Sonic Colors, all games that aren't exactly remembered all that fondly. If I were to place exactly where Iizuka was tasked with saving Sonic - or else - then I'd put it right around the time of Sonic Forces' release in 2017. Judging from the replies, it seems like Sonic fans are reading the most into this. They will be hoping to see Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition finally revealed after all of the leaks. Right now, it just looks like it will throw all of the updates and DLC into a single package, so it's not too exciting, but it would be something. Of course, many will hope that a brand new Sonic game is announced, too.
